Gaye Taylor Upchurch is a freelance director living in New York. Selected directing credits include: Patrick Huguenin’s Paper Dolls (NY Fringe; Outstanding Ensemble Award); Naomi Iizuka’s Language of Angels (Lincoln Center Institute); Charles Forbes’ minor gods (Summer Play Festival); Jordan Harrison’s Fit for Feet (Drama League), Nets (Fordham University). She has also worked with playwrights Laura Eason, Dano Madden, Kirsten Greenidge, Jessica Provenz and Mando Alvarado, and has developed new work at The Kennedy Center, Dixon Place, EST, Sonnet Rep, and LCT Director’s Lab. She is currently working with Sam Mendes on his upcoming trans-Atlantic Bridge Project production of Richard III, starring Kevin Spacey (BAM/Old Vic, London). As Associate Director of The Bridge Project (2008-2010), GT took The Cherry Orchard, Winter’s Tale, Tempest, and As You Like It on an international tour (Hong Kong; Singapore; Paris; Madrid; Epidavros, Greece, others). GT is an alumna of Wake Forest University, NC School of the Arts, Women’s Project Directors Lab, and Drama League.
